Course starting Guidelines

Course Starting dates:

The training at Stanley College London is an on-going process throughout the year. We do not follow the practice of many UK colleges and universities which confine their teaching to specific academic terms.

Instead, we normally arrange our student-intake so that you will have choices of various starting dates in any twelve months.

The advantage of this arrangement is that the prospective student need not wait for more than a short time possibly only a matter of weeks- before commencing a course. Therefore when you complete your application form please indicate the date which you want to commence your studies.

Entry Level Requirements:

As such Stanley College London does not normally require, on the part of student, any previous knowledge of the subjects to be studied. However we do insist that student must possess reasonable levels of literacy, numeracy, a good understanding of English and of course interest, in the relevant chosen subject. In the case of professional qualifications examinations or direct entry into second or third level of qualifications offered, the students must be able to provide evidence of required. GCSE passing or equivalent educational certificates (which will vary from country to country) will be the minimum requirement. In all cases the course adviser will judge these qualifications on their merits and advise the student accordingly.

As tuition will be in English it is highly advised that students have reached reasonable level of fluency. The College also has access to remedial English language courses and also reserves the right to transfer any student whose command of English is inadequate to this course until their command of English is adequate to have a proper understanding of the course for which he or she has enrolled.

Deferral of Course:

Under the new Tier 4 Student Visa rules students are not allowed to defer the start date of the College is required to report students who are not enrolled within 2 weeks of their arrival to the UKBA.

If Your VISA is Refused:

Please inform the college of your visa decision at admin@stanleycollege.co.uk , together with a scanned copy of the Visa refusal notice, quoting your Student reference number.  We will look at the reasons for refusal and discuss and agree the most appropriate course of action with you, in many cases it is advisable to make a fresh application.

Sponsorship Forms:

In case of an overseas student, where a friend or relative in the UK will be acting as his or her sponsor by providing living expenses and accommodation, it will be necessary for the sponsor to complete and sign a sponsorship from and provide evidence confirming the financial ability to maintain the student. The sponsor should contact the college for further details.

Medical Treatment:

Overseas student who are in UK for 6 months or longer are entitled to free medical treatment under the NHS (National Health Service) and therefore medical insurance is not necessary. We do advise, however, that students register with a doctor as soon as they arrive in London.

Visas:

The college is pleased to help students with visa formalities. If a student's visa is due to expire whilst he or she is still studying, the college will help students with the visa extension procedure.

Holidays:

Students who wish to go on holiday must notify the college at least one week in advance.
Students studying less than 8 weeks are not entitled to any authorised holidays. The students who are studying a course for more than 8 weeks can take authorised holidays as follows

Course Length Holidays (Weeks)
